Casey Bill Weldon was a versatile slide guitarist who recorded with many artists, including Blind Teddy Darby, Memphis Minnie, and maybe the Memphis Jug Band. Drawing upon a multitude of influences (blues, jazz, Hawaiian, country, Western swing, etc.), he made some engaging, fun music. As with most collections of “remaining titles & alternate takes,” it’s a bit of a mixed bag but there’s still a good percentage of quality material. Weldon’s enunciation on “Please Come On Down to My House” is a noteworthy delight; something about the way he says Grafonola… Accompanists include Peetie Wheatstraw, Charlie McCoy, Big Bill Broonzy, and possibly Tampa Red.
